BeetleBlock™ tree protection products significantly reduce the probability that bark beetles will attack and kill your trees. MCH and verbenone are field proven and are based on research conducted by the US Forest Service, BC Ministry of Forests and other agencies over the last 20 years. These products are not traditional pesticides. The active ingredients in BeetleBlock™ are natural products that are safe to use, leaving no persistent residues. BeetleBlock™ products are also much more economical and far easier to use than conventional toxic pesticide sprays. Since our products are highly species specific they will not affect beneficial insects and other non-targeted species. and are EPA registered and available exclusively through Synergy Semiochemicals Corp.
BeetleBlock™ GLV (green leaf volatile) is a host plant signal which is part of the essence of green leaves from broad leafed trees. Conifer infesting bark beetles recognize these smells as being emitted by trees that are unsuitable to colonize. BeetleBlock™ GLV provides a repellant signal for conifer infesting bark beetles which is distinct from the repellant pheromones MCH and verbenone. BeetleBlock™ GLV is an experimental product which has already shown promise as an additive to verbenone which repels and confuses pine infesting bark beetles. Like the other the BeetleBlock™ products, GLV is naturally occurring and safe to use.
