How and when do I use BeetleBlock™ tree protection products?

There are many reasons why trees dye. Ensure that your trees are being attacked by bark beetles. One of the tell tale signs are pitch tubes visible on the bark. Another symptom is fading color and shedding needles.

For best results beetle infested trees should be removed prior to treating trees with BeetleBlock™ products. Infested trees may be stripped of their bark or buried under ground or burned to ensure that the beetles within the tree do not emerge to infest new trees. Failing to remove infested trees or properly treating cut infested trees may compromise a tree protection treatment.

The optimum time to deploy the product is before the first beetles emerge. This is dependent on the species of beetle you are targeting and the weather. Federal, state, provincial entomologists or private forestry consultants and arborists can help you assess the susceptibility and the degree of risk of your trees. These professionals will be able to help you plan a pest management strategy that is right for your location and help you get the most benefit from our tree protection products. These products are intended to be used a part of an integrated pest management plan. BeetleBlock™ products need to be applied every year when beetle populations are high and trees are at risk.
